Commissions by Lynda Evans
Do you dream of having an original drawing or painting of your horse…a special portrait capturing the very essence of your much-loved animal partner? Commissioning your own artwork is a very personal experience. Even though I accept only a few commissions each year, I feel it is a great honor and a joy to share in this process with a client. I hope these “how to” steps help make the process easy and enjoyable!
Step 1 - Commissioning the Artwork
To begin, the first conversation will be all about the client’s desires, preferences, media (charcoal or graphite on archival paper or oil on a linen canvas), and budget for the original artwork. I work from high-resolution photographs (1MB or larger) that the client provides. The client will also supply close-up headshots. Next, I send the client a proposal with a design concept, size, price, and estimated completion time. Periodically, throughout the evolution of the art, photographs will be emailed to the client. Upon completion of the painting, the client will receive a high-resolution photograph for final approval. Visiting the studio to view the painting in person is optional.
Step 2 - Payment and Terms
Before the commencement of your charcoal or oil painting, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required. Once you have made final approval of your artwork, the balance is due. PayPal, credit cards, certified checks, and wire transfers are all acceptable. Payment plans are also available. When the final check has cleared, and the commissioned artwork is shipped to the client, Lynda offers two weeks for minor corrections if needed.
Step 3 - Framing & Shipping
As an additional service, Lynda Evans Studio works with marvelous framers locally and offers our assistance with framing your new original artwork. Oil paintings are on archival gallery-wrapped linen or cotton canvas and do not need framing unless the client desires. Shipping is worldwide in secure packaging. Framing and shipping costs are dependent upon personalized client choices. Shipping costs are calculated separately and are paid by the client.
The best part of the commission process is unwrapping the beautiful museum-quality artwork and hanging it on your wall! If you have any questions about the process, contact Lynda for more information. She will respond within 48 hours.
